ABSTRACT

At the global level, an interest in pet food market is rising. The paper analyzes the buying behavior of pet owners during three periods: before the pandemic, during the pandemic in 2020, including lockdown, and after the relaxing of COVID-19 pandemic measures in 2021. This study investigates the changes that occurred during the pandemic regarding the purchasing behavior of pet food products and the differences between purchasers of pet food products based on socio-demographic and geographical factors. For this purpose, an online interview based on a questionnaire with a sample of 1.525 people was conducted on pet-related Facebook groups. Looking at the buying behavior of the pet owners, the research found out several changes caused by restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though there were a few relaxation measures after the period of the lockdown, many pet owners have not returned to their old behavior before the pandemic. It is therefore interested to note the new trends in the pet food market, a market that has been growing for a long time. The study provides insights for pet food producers, retailers, vets, but also for those interested in the evolution of the pet food market. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

The paper aims to analyze using mathematical methods, a statistical model, considering as a case study an AUTO service in rural areas so that, under restrictive conditions generated by COVID-19 and compared to similar periods in previous years, it was possible to optimize the profit obtained by to the company manager. The study was conducted based on a mechanical workshop, "Vest Transcom", from which we evaluated the correlation coefficient. The mechanical workshop is located in the rural area of Caras-Severin County. The analyzed period was one month during the pandemic, respectively May 2021. The correlation coefficient is the one that measures the degree of independence between two quantities. Some of the parts in the workshop were highlighted. Their cost and the total cost of a mechanical repair were evaluated. The authors continued the study by analyzing the dependence of labor price, this time as a function of the total price of parts (primary and secondary) it was observed that the second-degree polynomial model better approximates the phenomenon, R2 = 0.85. The mathematical function that describes the analyzed model is of several variables, so the factors generated favorable opinion for the business by the age of the car park in rural areas and the distance to large cities with CAR REPRESENTATIONS for different brands. From the statistical interpretation of the experimental data which represents a sample of the total parts contained in the "Vest Transcom" workshop, we can conclude that the ratio between the costs of parts and the repair price induced by the exchange of a certain one is the best possible because the correlation coefficient has a positive value less than 1. Given the pandemic context, the mechanical workshop "Vest Transcom" worked very well, given that the car fleet from the rural area mostly includes old cars, which always need maintenance and upkeep, even if people have travelled less, there were still many cars to be repaired, so it is very necessary to have car workshops in the rural areas. rural environment, mechanical workshop, mathematical analysis Sustainable Development, Environmental Engineering and Geomatics.

ABSTRACT

Since December 2019, a novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has emerged and rapidly spread throughout the world, resulting in a global public health emergency. COVID-19 is causing a major once-in-a century global pandemic. The emergences of coronaviruses have caused a serious global public health problem because their infection in humans caused the severe acute respiratory disease and deaths. Much more serious than SARS-CoV in 2002, the current SARS-CoV-2 infection has been spreading to more than 213 countries, areas or territories and causing more than 31 million cases and 962,518 deaths (update september 2020). Intensive research efforts have focused on increasing our understanding of viral biology of SARS-CoV-2, improving antiviral therapy and vaccination strategies. The lack of vaccine and antivirals has brought an urgent need for an animal model. The animal models are important for both the fundamental research and drug discovery of coronavirus.
